Hyena Pan Camp (Kwai Concession) Botswana
Location:
Hyena Pan is a tranquil tented camp in private concession area NG18 better known as Khwai. The concession area borders the Moremi National Park and the Khwai River in the South and the Chobe National Park to the East. The camp is positioned 12km’s North of the Khwai river, within Cathedral Mopane forrest overlooking a natural Mopane Pan.
The pan is a constant water supply to many species of birds and animals year round, the rains in December to March flood the area creating an enormous water feature encouraging Hippo, Elephant and Buffalo and an exceptional array of water birds, as the pan shrinks from March through to late November we pump water to the pan from our close by borehole. The water from the borehole is slightly salty with high mineral content, a big attraction to the resident game and bird species in the concession. The pan is a hive of activity year round.
Accommdation:
Our eight en-suite tents offer simple comfort, furnished with twin beds, solar generated power and private facilities including gas generated showers. There is an international charging station within each tent for camera’s and batteries. There is no phone signal and no wi-fi facilities. Children are welcome although under 12yrs will share with an adult or older sibling.
Facilities:
The camp is almost entirely generated by solar with the only exception being the gas showers.
A three night, two full days stay is recommended .Afternoon tea is served on the game viewing deck at 15:00, although available all day. Sundowners at 18:30 around our camp fire almost always with elephant sharing the scenery. A delicious camp prepared 3 course dinner is served around 19:30. An early start with breakfast served at 06:00, although this is often extended for those preferring a later start. lunch is served around 13:00. Our rate is fully inclusive including activities and collection from either airstrip, accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner. A moderate selection of cold drinks and local beer and wine are also included.
